This home was recently remodeled in a Sante Fe motif with a rich
reddish brown exterior and many southwestern accents. The owners
are extremely fond of the style and it extends into their garden
as well. Cactus and succulents dominate this garden and the home's
proximity to the ocean doesn't preclude achieving this type of garden.
Careful selection of materials and the provision of
drainage lend to its success. We added rich red boulders, colored
gravels and decomposed granite as topdressing to further evoke the
desert effect. This project was completed at the end of 2001 and the
garden although young is already beginning to take shape. Included
are some pictures taken this spring as the garden just begins to fill
in.
